Every baby appointment is with David Feherty, a GOsC-registered osteopath with 25+ years of hands-on experience.
You know your baby better than anyone. So the appointment starts with you: what you have noticed, what you want to ask, and anything that has been on your mind. Nothing is too small to mention.
Cranial osteopathy is one of the approaches David uses. It is gentle, and your baby stays close to you throughout.
If your baby is unwell, has a fever, is not feeding, or you are worried, contact your GP or health visitor, call 111, or call 999 in an emergency.
Introduction to Paediatric Osteopathy for Babies, a continuing professional training programme with Caroline Stone (College of Non Musculoskeletal Osteopathy), completed July 2026.
David is studying for the Mother and Baby Diploma.
The appointment
David will ask about your pregnancy and birth, how your baby has been since, and anything you have noticed or would like to ask about. There is no rush. The first appointment is 60 minutes, so there is time for feeds and changes along the way.
Your baby stays with you, on your lap or on the treatment table beside you, whichever feels more settled. David will watch how your baby moves and use light, gentle touch to assess.
If treatment is appropriate, it is gentle and hands-on. If your baby becomes unsettled, we pause. Feeding or cuddling during the appointment is absolutely fine.
If anything in the history or assessment means your baby should be seen by a GP or health visitor, David will tell you clearly and will not treat until that has happened.
