Conditions we treat

Other conditions we treat

Osteopathy's whole-body approach means we treat a wide range of conditions beyond the most common presentations. If something is not listed here, call us and we will tell you whether we can help.

Fibromyalgia & Persistent Pain

Fibromyalgia involves widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and heightened pain sensitivity. While there is no cure, osteopathic treatment can reduce the musculoskeletal component of symptoms, improve movement quality, and support the nervous system's capacity to regulate pain. We work gently and collaboratively, always within your tolerance.

Muscle Spasms

Muscle spasm is the body's protective response to pain, injury, or mechanical overload. It is rarely the primary problem, but it creates a painful cycle that is difficult to break without hands-on intervention. Soft tissue treatment, joint mobilisation, and identifying the underlying driver are the core of our approach.

Neuralgia

Neuralgia describes nerve pain, often sharp, burning, or shooting, arising from nerve irritation or compression. Common presentations include intercostal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia, and nerve root irritation from spinal joint restriction. Osteopathy addresses the structural factors compressing or irritating the nerve pathway.

Rheumatic Pain

Rheumatic pain refers to pain arising from joints, muscles, and connective tissue, often associated with inflammatory conditions. Osteopathic treatment complements rheumatological care by addressing musculoskeletal compensations, improving local circulation, and maintaining as much function as possible alongside medical management.

Circulatory Problems

Osteopathy has a long-standing interest in the relationship between structure and circulation. Thoracic restriction, rib cage mechanics, and postural patterns all affect circulatory dynamics. Treatment may be appropriate as a supportive approach for conditions involving sluggish circulation, cold extremities, or lymphatic congestion, always alongside appropriate medical care.

Digestion Problems

The relationship between the spine, nervous system, and digestive function is well established anatomically. Osteopathic treatment of the thoracic and lumbar spine, diaphragm, and abdominal soft tissue can support digestive function in some patients, particularly where musculoskeletal tension or poor posture is contributing. This is a supportive approach, not a substitute for medical investigation of digestive symptoms.

Tension & Stress

Physical tension and psychological stress are inseparable. Chronic stress produces sustained muscle tension, altered breathing mechanics, and a heightened pain system that makes the body more vulnerable to injury and slower to recover. Osteopathic treatment that addresses the physical expression of stress can have a meaningful effect on how the body holds and processes tension.

Generalised Aches & Pains

Widespread, non-specific aching that does not fit neatly into a diagnostic category is one of the most common presentations we see. It often reflects accumulated postural strain, deconditioning, poor sleep, or a pattern of minor mechanical problems that have never been addressed together. A thorough whole-body assessment frequently identifies a clear picture where previous appointments have found nothing specific.
